The Salisbury Township Police Department is extremely proud to announce its new leader, Chief Kevin Soberick. Chief Soberick has proudly served the residents of Salisbury Township since June of 1995. He is a 1987 graduate of Lehigh County Community College where he holds a degree in Applied Science Electronics and Communications and a 1994 graduate of the City of Reading Police Academy.

From 1995-2002 he served as a patrol officer in Salisbury Township and within those years was the department's Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program officer. (MCSAP) In December of 2002 he was promoted from patrol officer to sergeant where he oversaw the day to day operations of nearly twenty police officers and filled in as Acting Chief when called upon. He was in charge of the department's patrol schedule as well the coordinator for special patrol details for events ranging from presidential candidate security in conjunction with the United States Secret Service to local township events. Chief Soberick was also responsible for the purchasing and maintaining of the department's entire fleet of patrol vehicles and special operation vehicles. In 2007 Chief Soberick successfully implemented and lead the department's first ever Special Operations Group (SOG) which is used for high risk tactical incidents such as felony arrest warrant details, hostage and negotiation situations and armed barricaded subjects.

Chief Soberick has successfully completed the Trilogy Command Leadership training program through the FBI Academy and a earned a certificate in Posit, Polex and officer field training through Penn State University. He has also trained through the National Tactical Officers Association (N.T.O.A.) where he is certified as an instructor for active shooter response training and through Texas University's Civilian Response To Active Shooter Events (CRASE), which is designed to subjugate active shooters and save victims. Chief Soberick is also a certified instructor for less lethal and special munitions training.

In Chief Soberick's twenty four year tenure with the department he has received the Gallantry Star Award after successfully apprehending a violent actor who was attempting to disarm a police officer. He has also received one commendation for safely executing a very high risk felony arrest warrant with state parole, a second commendation for apprehending an armed bank robbery suspect and received a letter of commendation after safely apprehending a subject wanted for attempted criminal homicide.

Chief Soberick would like the residents of Salisbury Township to know that our department will strive its very best to protect and serve them and is looking forward to implementing new police programs which focus on community involvement. In the near future our department will also begin working on becoming an accredited police department which is designed to improve the delivery of public safety services while maintaining a body of standards covering a wide range of public safety initiatives.

Chief Soberick was officially sworn in this evening during the township’s commissioners meeting and shall serve as the department’s fourth chief of police in its sixty one year existence.
