Chief Donald Sabo Salisbury Township Police Department

The Criminal Investigation Unit is responsible for identifying and apprehending criminal offenders and for preparing the cases for prosecution. These cases may involve murder, sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, major thefts, arson, drugs and other serious crimes.

The Criminal Investigation Unit also investigates cases of non-criminal nature, including Megan’s law registration, missing person reports and firearm release applications. Members of the Criminal Investigation Unit also provide programs to civic organizations in our community. Detectives assigned to these criminal cases often act as evidence technicians, processing the crime scene for physical evidence. The detectives may take photographs; handle and collect trace evidence from the crime scene, and dust the area with fingerprint powder for latent fingerprints. Additionally, the detectives interview and take statements from victims, witnesses and defendants. Monthly FBI reporting is done on all crimes, and crime mapping is reviewed to visualize and attempt to reduce crime in specific areas.

The Fire Marshal Office is also part of the Criminal Investigation Unit. Our department investigates all fires that occur in Salisbury Township and coordinates follow up and coordination with all township departments. The Fire Marshal determines the cause and origin of the fire and prepares reports for the State of Pennsylvania.
