FAQ’S
Where do I pay for, or make a plea to a citation that I received from an officer on a traffic stop?
A. If you received a traffic citation from an officer in our department, you need to visit the Magisterial District Judge, located at 2851 Suite #A Old South Pike Avenue Allentown, PA 18103. Their phone number is 610-797-8724.
Payments and Guilty Pleas can also be made online for your convenience through the Lehigh County Court System.
What is the Non-Emergency number for the police?

610-437-5252 (After hours)
Where do I take old or expired prescription medications to have them properly disposed of?
A. You can bring old or unwanted prescription medications to one of the two drop boxes that we maintain. One is located outside the pharmacy area at Lehigh Valley Health Network Cedar Crest and the other is located in our police department vestibule/waiting area. The drop box is only for prescription drugs and we cannot take any needles, ointments, or liquids.
I am seeking information about obtaining a Protection from Abuse Order (PFA).
A. To file for a PFA in Lehigh County, you must visit the Lehigh County Courthouse, located at 4th and Hamilton Streets in Allentown. Their phone number is 610-782-3000. If there is an emergency please dial 911 and an officer will assist you.
I have a vehicle on private property that is abandoned and needs to be removed.
A. The property owner needs to fill out a MV-952PP form, issued by Penndot and available at our police station. Vehicles on private property are not removed by the police and the property owner is responsible for the costs associated with removal.
There is a vehicle parked on my street for a few weeks now and I want it to be moved. How can this be done?
A. If the vehicle is legally parked, is currently registered, and has a valid inspection, there is nothing the police can do. Each of these problems are addressed on a case by case basis and if its parked in a manner which poses an immediate hazard, call 911 or our Non-Emergency number.
I think I have been the victim of a scam, or had my identity compromised.
A. You can start by calling our police department and making a police report about the reported scam and activity. There are forms available at both our police station and HERE, for you to fill out and send to your creditors to assist in the process.
I was involved in a motor vehicle accident that the police were not called to but I would like to report it now.
A. If you are no longer on scene but still wish to report the accident you can fill out a Pennsylvania AA-600 form from Penndot. The police department cannot take reports of motor vehicle accidents after the fact, when parties are no longer on scene.
In Pennsylvania, if you are involved in an accident and neither party is injured and the vehicles can be driven from the scene, the police do not need to be involved, so long as both drivers exchange information and are satisfied. If unsure, call police and an officer will respond to the scene.
